Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating an excavator or digger safely and efficiently to perform a variety of tasks, including digging trenches, lifting and moving materials, and assisting with site preparation. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety protocols to ensure the smooth operation of construction projects.
Responsibilities:
- Operate the digger or excavator to dig trenches, holes, foundations, and other types of excavation work as per project specifications.
- Use the machinery to lift and move materials such as dirt, gravel, rock, and other construction materials.
- Prepare sites for foundations, drainage, or utilities by excavating areas to the correct depth and width.
- Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, dumpers and other earth-moving equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct pre-operation checks on the digger to identify potential safety hazards.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, guidelines, and regulations when operating machinery.
- Report any equipment issues or safety concerns immediately to the site supervisor or operations manager.
Essential Skills:
- Valid CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) or NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) card, or equivalent certification for operating diggers and excavators.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Previous experience operating diggers, excavators, or other construction equipment.
- Experience in the construction, civil engineering, or excavation industry preferred.
- Proven ability to operate machinery safely and effectively on construction sites.
Expected hours: 40.5 per week
