The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering expertise across KES Group’s modular plantroom and offsite manufacturing projects. The role will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from design development and technical coordination through to manufacturing, assembly, testing, delivery and site installation. The successful candidate will work closely with BIM, Design, Manufacturing, Procurement and Project teams to ensure mechanical systems are technically sound, coordinated, compliant and suitable for offsite manufacture.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review mechanical designs for modular plantroom projects.
- Produce and review mechanical layouts, schematics, P&IDs and engineering drawings.
- Design and coordinate chilled water and associated mechanical systems.
- Review equipment selections including pumps, heat exchangers, valves and associated components.
- Develop pipework layouts and ensure appropriate routing, access and maintenance provisions.
- Undertake engineering calculations where required.
- Review pipe sizing, pressure drops, flow rates and system requirements.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, specifications and project requirements.
- Work closely with BIM Co-ordinators to develop fully coordinated 3D models.
- Ensure designs consider fabrication, assembly, lifting, transportation and installation requirements.
- Review equipment and supplier technical submissions.
- Assist with technical procurement and equipment selection.
- Prepare and review technical submittals.
- Respond to RFIs and technical queries.
- Assist with design reviews and coordination meetings.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing and assembly teams.
- Assist with resolving technical issues during manufacturing.
- Support factory testing, pressure testing and quality inspections.
- Assist Project Managers with technical aspects of project delivery.
- Review as-built information and assist with project handover documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency, standardisation and manufacturability.

Required Experience
- Mechanical Engineering / Building Services Engineering experience.
- Experience with mechanical services and pipework systems.
- Experience in commercial, industrial or data-centre projects desirable.
- Experience with chilled water systems advantageous.
- Experience with modular or offsite manufacturing highly advantageous.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
