The Static Caravan to the SmartBuild Fusion Lodge
The Caravan and Mobile Home Industry has continued to develop over the past 70 years. Firstly, beginning in 1947 with the first Static Caravan with minimal design and a traditional standard of living. In other words, this traditional method of holiday home living began to develop with the simple installation of a water system to generate cold and hot water. Moreover, gas burners developed into heating systems and outdoor toilet/washrooms became state of the art bathrooms. Here is a brief summary of the evolution of the caravan.
Timeline
In 1947: the first Static Caravan was introduced. Made from hardboard and kitted with gas lighting, a coal fire, a single gas burner. BUT – no bathroom or running water.
1983: was the year the mobile home entered the market. The mobile home was a fully serviced caravan, equipped with running water; hot and cold, a fitted kitchen with appliances and a toilet/wash room. A major development for this specific industry. Throughout the mobile home era it developed further with the installation of televisions and the latest gadgets to enter the market.
2000: was the introduction of the traditional lodge home. This was the beginning of floor to ceiling windows leading out onto balconies. Open planned kitchen and living areas with traditional finishes & appliances.
